Mr. Irfan Ali HyderFaculty Member

Irfan Ali Hyder is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Certified Director from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, and a Trainer certified by International Finance Corporation. He is an independent consultant, based at Karachi. His work focuses on Human Resource Management and Organizational Design & Development.

Irfan is a member of the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, and an independent Director on the Board of Clover Pakistan Ltd. – a public limited company engaged in the sale of food products, automotive accessories and providing innovative business solutions.  He volunteers at The Citizens Foundation as subject-matter-expert on the HR Committee of the Board of Trustees since 2009, and also volunteers as a member of the MIT Educational Council for since 2007.

Irfan possesses diversified experience in Human Resource Management, Change Management, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business Process Redesign, Engineering, Project Management etc.

However he has been associated with the HR function for the last twenty years.

As Head of HR at Meezan Bank, Irfan was accountable for Organization Design, Change Management, HR Capacity Building, Talent Management, HR General Operations, and Employee Relations. He also worked on the very successful amalgamation of HSBC Pakistan operations with Meezan Bank in 2014.

As Change & Engagement Manager in Shell Pakistan Ltd. he worked on Organizational Design, Workforce development, and stakeholder management. Earlier he operated at two levels in the Shell global HR organization: at the country and the Asia-Pacific levels. This job incorporated the roles of HR Administration expert, Employee champion, Coach, Facilitator, Business-literate business partner, and Change agent.

At the Asia-Pacific level it implied coordination of HR Account Managers for approx. 1300 staff in 130 locations spread from the Arabian Peninsula through Asia & Australia to the Pacific Islands, whereas at country level this implied HR management of approx 200 staff at about twenty locations. He contributed to Collective Bargaining Agreements, Grievance management, Recruitment strategies, and Policy formulation. He participated in Regional Organizational Design, Talent Management & Recruitment, Diversity & Inclusiveness global initiative, Work-Life-Balance global initiative, Implementation of supervisory skills and leadership improvement programs.

Irfan also had managed the Procurement function in Shell Pakistan and was a member of the Asia-Pacific Procurement team. As IT Manager for Shell Downstream for Middle-East & South Asia, he was a member of the Shell Downstream CIO’s team anchored in London.

In his early days, Irfan was associated with NESPAK Engineering Consultants, where he worked in Project management and Business development for ten years.

Irfan Ali Hyder is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Certified Director from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, and he is certified as a Trainer by International Finance Corporation [IFC].

He currently works as Head of Human Resources — and Secretary of the Board HR Committee — at Meezan Bank, the first and largest Islamic Bank in Pakistan, with more than 490 branches in 120 cities and 7000+ employees.

Irfan possesses diversified experience in Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Change Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Process Redesign, Engineering, Project Management etc. However he is associated with the HR function for the last 17 years, earlier with Shell Pakistan Ltd, and now with Meezan Bank.

Irfan is accountable for Organization Design, Change Management, HR Capacity Building, Talent Management, HR General Operations, and Employee Relations. He has successfully worked on many initiatives, including: Developing the first ever HR Policy and HR Procedure manuals, implementing Oracle-HRMS, Succession Planning.
