Mr. Kamran Mirza

Mr. Kamran Y. Mirza is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the United Kingdom. He started his career in Pakistan as an auditor with A.F. Ferguson & Co. In December 1970 Mr. Mirza joined Abbott Laboratories (Pakistan) Limited, a multinational Pharmaceutical cum health care company as Chief Financial Officer. There, in 1977 he became one of the youngest Managing Directors of his time, maintaining his position for 29 years.

Work And Experience

From February 2007 to March 2009 Mr. Mirza served as the chairman of Export Processing Zones Authority, and then joined Pakistan Business Council (PBC is a Think Tank cum Business Policy Advocacy Forum) as its Chief Executive Officer, also representing them on the Board of Investment (BOI). He held his position as CEO till December 2015. He also served simultaneously as the Chairman of Education Fund for Sindh (EFS) from 2012-16. Some other companies that Mr. Mirza has previously served as Chairman of include Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Ltd. (PMEX), formerly known as National Commodity Exchange Ltd. (NCEL), Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), a Task Force set up by the Planning Commission on Pharmaceutical Industry, and Pharma Bureau (Association of Pharmaceutical Multinationals). He was also the President of Overseas Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), and American Business Council (ABC). Mr. Mirza has also served as member and director on numerous boards. He was a director on the boards of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Pakistan Steel (PS), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Bank Alfalah Ltd, Pakistan Textile City Ltd. Competitiveness Support Fund (CSF), Genco Holding Company, NAVTEC, and Safari Club of Pakistan Ltd. He was a member of the Sindh Wildlife Board, the Economic Advisory Board of the Federal Government, and the Quality Control Board of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

At Present

At present, he is the Chairman of Philip Morris (Pakistan) Ltd., Unilever Pakistan Foods Ltd. (UPFL), and Karwan-e-Hayat (NGO). He is also a director on the Boards of Abbott Laboratories, International Steel (ISL), and Sarmaya-e-Pakistan Ltd.
