Mr. Waqar Ahmed Malik, an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and INSEAD, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Earlier, Mr. Malik spent 27 years his career with The ICI PLC Group in the UK and then some time with Akzo Nobel N.V. based in The Netherlands, where he worked in the Corporate Finance and Strategy Department.

Work And Experience

Once in Pakistan, Mr. Malik has played an instrumental role in the development of Pakistan’s regulatory system, and in the advocacy for economic reforms. Earlier Mr. Malik served as a Director on the boards of Engro Corporation Limited, Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan, Engro Polymer and Chemicals LTD, and TPL Insurance LTD, and as chairman on the board of PPL. He was also a former member on the Boards of various educational institutes, such as Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. Mr. Malik’s other past engagements include serving as Director of Sate Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Business Council (PBC), and as President of Overseas Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) and Management Association of Pakistan (MAP). For almost 10 years, Mr Malik served as the Chief Executive Officer of ICI Pakistan Limited and also the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Lotte Pakistan Limited.

At Present

Mr. Malik joined Fauji Foundation as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on 9th April 2020, and is presently serving as Chairman on the Boards of 18 Fauji Group Companies, some which include Mari Petroleum Company LTD, Fauji Fresh n Freeze LTD, Askari Bank LTD, Foundation Solar Energy (Private) LTD, and Fauji Cement Company LTD, among others. Apart from that, he also serves as co-founder and Chairman of Pakistan Oxygen LTD, acquired by Adira Capital Holdings (Private) Mr. Malik invests great time and energy to participate actively in social and philanthropic activities, by serving as a Trustee of the I – Care Foundation. As a trustee of Duke of Edinburgh Trust Pakistan, he was awarded the Prince of Wales Medal for his work and contributions to the aid of the 2010 Flood Victims.
